Cyber Element, Inc. is back in business

Posted by melissa on Sep 8, 2008 in Web Design, everything else

I have redesigned cyberelement.com, it now closely resembles photobookmemories.com. Business has slowed down quite a bit with the state of the economy. I am going back to web design. Photo Book Memories will still be here. I’ll now have both businesses to run. The blog will be shared by both sites. I’ll be posting web design related articles here in addition to the digital scrapbooking stuff. Let me know if there is anything specific you would like to see about web design.

The Wii Fit is the Bomb!

Posted by melissa on Jul 24, 2008 in Personal, everything else, family

I found a Wii Fit in Costco a few weeks ago. They are scarce - I’m looking for another one for my mother. I love it! It’s fun and engaging. I hate working out. I need to lose about 60 lbs. If you search my blog, you’ll see where I lost 50 lbs. Yeah, well, I gained back 60.

I do my body test before I start. My Mii starts out looking normal, then it calculates my BMI and the little gauge goes up and up and up and a little voice says “that’s obese” and my Mii plumps up nice and fat like a turkey ready for the oven!

The good news is that I am actually losing weight with it. I’m down a few pounds in since I started around July 4th. I feel it in my body. My back feels great. I was having lots of low back pain - I think the hula hoops have made it much better!

Yoga is hard! I’ve never done it and I have a hard time with the poses on the Wii. I’ve only tried a few and am working my way up. The strength exercises are also difficult. I’ve avoided most of them so far, too. Aerobics is easy and fun and I work up a sweat. The Balance games are just fun. I’m sure they help my balance but it’s a stretch to call them exercise!

It’s worth getting a Wii just for the Wii Fit. It’s more fun than going to the gym and having the feedback while you’re working out makes a difference. Having others in the high score spot motivates you to want to beat them! I highly recommend it and you don’t have to leave home and can toss that gym membership!

Got a Wii? Leave a note about how you like it.

Disney Pages for You

Posted by melissa on Jun 17, 2008 in Designing Pages, everything else

I am currently designing my personal Disney pages (I have many, many photos from Disney). My husband bought me a DVC (Disney Vacation Club) last fall ensuring we will be visiting at least once a year. We have been going once or twice a year for several years.

I have partnered up with Sophia Sarducci to bring you her wonderful designs. Digital Scrappers can make their own pages from her designs and I am creating templates to use with my customers’ photos. You organize the photos in the order you want them, send them to me and I’ll make you a Disney Themed Photo Book! I am mixing my own designs in there with hers. There will be lots of themes including Cinderella, Mickey, Belle, Buzz, Woody, Bugs Life, Ariel, Nemo, Monsters, Snow White, Tink, Peter Pan and more.

I will post the pages in the gallery as I get them designed.

Updated Sample Galleries

Posted by melissa on Jan 3, 2008 in everything else

I updated my galleries to include more pages and samples of custom work. Take a look.

http://photobookmemories.com/samples.html

I added pages from the 2 most recent wedding books I designed, a bunch of personal Disney pages, some 50th Anniversary books, pages from a travel album and lots of my personal pages. I took some time over the holidays to work on my stuff. I’m 2 years behind! I’m up to October of 2005.

Many of the graphics in my personal pages are from designs I’ve collected and purchased from other designers. I’ve put a note in the gallery that these graphics are not available for custom books. If you are a designer and I’ve used your graphics in a page and you would prefer I not display it, just let me know and I’ll remove the page.

New Website Design

Posted by melissa on Nov 29, 2007 in everything else

It was time for an update. My website was getting out of control with information and too many pages. It’s now nice and clean, clear and simple. I would love to hear your feedback, let me know what you think about the new site and the new look of the blog.

Would you like to see something weekly, maybe a freebie or special quick-tip? I’m going to post a few videos to keep you busy. Leave me a comment if you have an idea of what you would like every week and I’ll keep the videos coming!

Just a Personal Entry for a Change!

Posted by melissa on Apr 24, 2007 in everything else

I know I haven’t contributed a personal post in quite a while. I figure you come here to learn cool stuff about photoshop, not to hear about me and my life! But… I know it’s nice to know the person behind the blog, so here is a personal entry for you!

I bought a new cell phone last week - I’ve never really bought a cell phone. I had a really old phone, it was about 8 yrs. old. I went to visit my family back east and my 18 yr. sister (yes, she is very much younger than me - dad remarried) was embarrassed to seen with me, so she gave me her old flip phone. It was falling apart and wouldn’t hold a charge anymore. I’m in a leadership training program and finding myself on the phone way more than normal, so I bought a new one to lessen my disdain for cell phones - I hate them. It’s a pink/purple RAZR.

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000GAAOXM.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

It’s cool - but I have pre-paid, so I can’t really use all the cool features - which I actually don’t really even know what the cool features are.  I can take pictures - I did that. I can receive and reply to text messages, but I can’t seem to send one. I can’t send a pix message - I’m guessing it would eat all of my minutes. I refuse to buy a plan - I pay $15 a month for my minutes - no extra stuff, I pay as I go, when I want. The guy who sold me my phone said he’s never seen my plan - because it’s about 8 yrs old!

Back to the reason - this leadership training I’m doing. I’ve been participating in programs with Landmark Education since last May.  I completed the curriculum for living and I’m now in the Introduction Leaders Program. It’s intense and I love it. It’s the best leadership training on the planet. If you are looking for breakthroughs in your life, want to dissolve barriers to your success and happiness, check out Landmark Education.

You Make a Difference

Posted by melissa on Jan 25, 2007 in everything else

I’ve been analyzing my web stats lately and they don’t make any sense to me at all. They say there are about 3000 visitors to my site per month and 75% of those bookmark it. That is huge - over 2000 people per month bookmarking my site. But I have a difficult time believing the numbers. If that was true, I would have more communication with those people - right?

That’s where you come in. I have a blog for many reasons, increase ranking on the search engines, keeping customers updated and informed, providing tips for making better pages for printing and I love teaching, so adding tutorials and info is great. The problem is, I don’t know who is here, where you came from or why you’re here. I have a spam filter on my comments - so they don’t show up right away, I have to moderate them and make sure you’re a real person. But the comments are rare and few, so I feel very alone and quite at odds with my stats!

So I’m asking you to please, please say hi. Let me know what you like, what you want to see, who you are and what you do. The more feedback I get the more stuff I will post to feed the requests. And, if you see a few comments posted, please don’t think one more won’t matter - it does. I want to hear from you. I want to know I’m talking to real people and not a bunch of bots trying to spam my site.

Thank you for making a difference.
